Well, there has to be a first post in every blog, and baby this is it.
This is the official blog of the Powell River Food Security Project, and I hope it will become a clearinghouse of information about growing food, sharing knowledge, working together, and generally boosting regional food security here on the Upper Sunshine Coast.
Questions? Comments? Complaints? Direct them to me, David Parkinson, coordinator of the Powell River Food Security Project.

hi-
a few things: Lyn Adamson said that she is looking for someone to take over the organization of the local 50-mile (100 mile?) challenge and that there is talk of making it a sunshine coast-wide (long?) phenomenon.
Here’s a good link for a peek at what is going on in the US on this issue: Locavore Nation:

I have just gotten hold of a book called “Small-Scale Grain Raising” by Gene Logsdon, if anyone wants to borrow it. You can get in touch with me at Kingfisher Books (under the bowling alley).
